FA Cup 2024/25 - Fourth Round Preview
One
of the standout ties from the FA Cup fourth-round draw sees Villa host an
inconsistent Tottenham side with a place in the last-16 up for grabs.
Villa
overturned a 1-0 deficit against West Ham United to win 2-1 and book their spot
in round four courtesy of a quickfire double from Amadou Onana and Morgan
Rogers.
Coming
up against Spurs will hardly send shivers down their spine even though Ange
Postecoglou’s side have humiliated them over the last two meetings, winning by
a combined scoreline of 8-1.
The
first of that sequence came at Villa Park, and Unai Emery will need to come up
with a different formula to stop Spurs when both sides meet in Birmingham for
the fourth round.
Ange
Postecoglou will be keen to make it three wins in a row against Villa, and the
Australian’s massive fan base in his homeland will bet on him to achieve the
feat.
Spurs
fans have repeatedly let down their fans and sports bettors in recent years,
but the game against Villa will still generate plenty of interest on Australian betting sites.
Villa
will head into the game as the slight favourites with the bookmakers, but Spurs
will hope to upset the odds to deliver a winning return to loyal Aussie
punters.
Elsewhere,
Chelsea face a tricky trip to Brighton, although they emerged from their last visit
to the Amex Stadium with a 2-1 victory despite going down to ten men.
Both
sides have already locked horns in the Premier League this season, with Cole
Palmer netting four goals in the first half to steer Chelsea to a 4-2 victory.
The
Blues will head to the south coast as favourites, but Brighton have a knack for
slaying giants. Enzo Maresca’s side must be wary of complacency against the
dangerous Seagulls.
A
potential shock could be on the cards at Ewood Park as Championship promotion
chasers Blackburn Rovers welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to Lancashire.
