Walker Buehler injury update: Dodgers ace to undergo season-ending elbow surgery

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Monday that right-hander Walker Buehler will undergo season-ending elbow surgery next week.

Buehler has not pitched in the majors since June 10, but the NL-West leading Dodgers were hoping he could return for the stretch run and 2022 postseason. Buehler, 28, appeared in just 12 games this season, pitching to a 4.02 ERA (103 ERA+) and 58 strikeouts in 65 innings. The two-time All-Star finished fourth in NL Cy Young Award voting last year.
