Tennessee State wins 76-71 against SIU-Edwardsville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Michael Shanks' 16 points helped Tennessee State defeat SIU-Edwardsville 76-71 on Saturday night.

Shanks was 4 of 7 shooting and 7 of 7 from the free throw line for the Tigers (17-12, 10-6 Ohio Valley Conference). Marcus Fitzgerald Jr. scored 15 points while going 3 of 7 and 7 of 8 from the free throw line. Kinyon Hodges shot 3 of 6 from the field and 5 for 9 from the line to finish with 11 points, while adding six rebounds and eight steals.

Damarco Minor led the way for the Cougars (16-13, 9-7) with 31 points, 12 rebounds and five steals. Ray'Sean Taylor added 14 points and three steals for SIU-Edwardsville. In addition, Shamar Wright finished with 11 points.
