Sports betting roundup: DeChambeau takes home US Open trophy, Celtics favored to win Game 5

Bryson DeChambeau entered the U.S. Open with the fourth-shortest odds to win at BetMGM online sportsbook, taking in the second-most tickets (9.5%), the second-most money (10.8%) and, eventually, taking home the silver trophy.

DeChambeau finished second at the last golf major in May, the PGA Championship, but he did one better at Pinehurst No. 2. He got up-and-down from a bunker on the 72nd hole to save par and finish at 6 under, one shot better than Rory McIlroy.

McIlroy bogeyed three of his final four holes, missing two par putts from 4 feet or less.

It was DeChambeau's second career U.S. Open title. He also won the title in 2020.

Trends of the Week

DeChambeau started the tournament with +2000 odds to win, tied for the fourth-shortest.

Scottie Scheffler was by far the most-bet player, bringing in a massive 29.3% of the money. He finished at 8 over and in a tie for 41st. It was the first time Scheffler finished outside the top 10 in a PGA Tour event in 11 starts dating back to January.

In the NBA Finals, the Boston Celtics still lead the Dallas Mavericks 3-1 despite losing Game 4 by 38 points and have a chance to end the series at home.

Boston is -3000 to win the series. Since 2005, teams that lost in the NBA Finals by 30 or more points are a perfect 4-0 straight up and 4-0 against the spread in the next game. The Celtics are favored by 6.5 points in Game 5.

Going into Game 5, Jaylen Brown is the favorite to win NBA Finals MVP at -225. Jayson Tatum is next at +220, followed by Luka Doncic at +1300. Doncic is taking in the most tickets (16.8%) and the second-most money (18.4%). Tatum is bringing in the most money (22.4%), while Brown has the third-most (16.7%).

Upsets of the Week

The New York Yankees, at -178 (moneyline), against the Boston Red Sox were the most-bet team on Saturday, pulling in 87% of the tickets. New York lost the game 8-4.

Entering Monday, the Red Sox have won four of their last six games, coming against the Philadelphia Phillies and Yankees, two of MLB's best teams.

Ryan Blaney won the NASCAR race in Iowa. He entered with +750 odds to win and took in the ninth-most tickets (4.5%) and the sixth-most money (4.9%).

Coming Up

The College World Series is in full swing in Omaha.

Going into Monday, Tennessee has the best odds to win at -105. Texas A&M and Kentucky are next at +250 and +350, respectively.

Tennessee is seeking its first College World Series title.
