Bulls vs. Magic odds, line: 2022 NBA picks, Jan. 3 prediction from proven computer model

The Orlando Magic visit the Chicago Bulls at 8 p.m. ET on Monday at the United Center, where Chicago is 12-4 this season. The Magic are 5-17 on the road, and two of those wins came in consecutive games against the Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks in mid-December. Since missing three games at the beginning of last month due to health and safety protocols, DeMar DeRozan has picked right back up where he left off for Chicago. Over his last seven starts, he's averaged 28.4 points, 6.3 assists and 4.4 rebounds.

Chicago is favored by 14 points in the latest Bulls vs. Magic odds from Caesars Sportsbook, and the over-under is set at 218.5. Before entering any Magic vs. Bulls picks, you'll want to see the NBA predictions from the model at SportsLine.

The Bulls escaped with a win this past Saturday against the Washington Wizards by the margin of a single free throw, 120-119. It was another big night for Chicago's shooting guard Zach LaVine, who shot 7-for-12 from beyond the arc and finished with 35 points and five rebounds. LaVine is just a shade under his averages from last year's All-Star season, but he is hitting his three-pointers at the same rate while taking fewer of them (41.9 percent).

The game-winning basket came courtesy of DeRozan who has knocked down buzzer-beaters in back-to-back games. In his most recent of three consecutive All-Star appearances during the 2017-18 season, DeRozan averaged 23 points per game, shot 45.6 percent, made just 31 percent of his threes, and grabbed 3.9 rebounds per game. This season, DeRozan is shooting 49.5 percent from the field, hitting 37.3 percent of his three-pointers and securing 5.1 rebounds while averaging 26.8 points per contest.

Orlando played tough against Boston on Sunday, but couldn't pull out the win against Boston in a 116-111 loss. Orlando did get a solid performance out of shooting guard Terrence Ross, who had 33 points and five rebounds after missing seven games (protocols). Ross had been playing well in the four games before his absence, and averaged 18 points and four rebounds per game off the bench. However, in his last game against Chicago, he scored just five points in 20 minutes of action.

The Magic will be without point guard Cole Anthony for a fifth-straight game as he continues to recover from an ankle sprain. Orlando has managed to score more than 110 points in each of its last three outings, but the Magic could definitely use Anthony's 20 points per game back in the lineup. Orlando's opponents have averaged 111.6 points per contest, which is the fifth-highest mark in the NBA. Also missing Monday's game for the Magic are Jalen Suggs (thumb), Chuma Okeke (protocols) and Robin Lopez (protocols).

The model has simulated Magic vs. Bulls 10,000 times and the results are in. We can tell you that the model is leaning Under, and it also says one side of the spread hits over 60 percent of the time. You can only see the pick at SportsLine.
